Monique Carroll-Blakey

Monique Carroll-Blakey – Lead Vocals

Monique’s love for music began at a very young age. Her mother first “discovered” Monique’s vocal abilities at the tender age of four while she sang to herself in the family’s home. She was almost immediately placed in vocal lessons as well as her church and community choirs.

Monique continued to hone her craft throughout elementary and middle school; where she also began playing the violin (age 8). During high school, Monique participated in her school’s concert choir, jazz and advanced ensembles, orchestra (2nd violin), and even founded/directed her high school’s first Gospel choir.

Monique has also won several awards from both national and international adjudications and talent competitions. Traveling all over the U.S. as well as Nassau, Bahamas and Canada. She also participated in the widely recognized NAACP ACT-SO competition where she not only won at the State and Regional levels, but received gold and silver medals at the national level as well as thousands of dollars in scholarship money.

Monique’s talents do not however, stop at singing. She has also written/ arranged/ produced numerous songs for several different artists in several different genres. She has also been signed to both major and independent labels in in the past, before finally deciding to try things out on her own.

The sky is the limit for Monique! And along with her love for ALL genres of music; her strong, soulful, Soprano/Alto range proves to be a great fit as the lead singer of the already uber-talented band: “Sawyer’s Dream”.
